Answers from your project files, with the page they came from
Project knowledge sits in folders nobody reads twice. Make the folder a knowledge space in Finder: Geist indexes every file, and Wisp, the AI team in Geist, answers from those files with a citation to the page. It sees what the person asking can see, and nothing more.
Wisp sees what the person asking can see
An interactive agent run acts with the requesting user's permissions. Connected SharePoint files require both the person's current SharePoint access and the relevant Geist file, folder and project grants. Connecting a folder as an administrator does not give other users the administrator's access.
- Every file the agent opens is checked against the grants of the person asking
- Connected SharePoint content, cached answers and summaries require current source access (beta)
- SharePoint writeback requires the user's Microsoft write permission and Geist controls, and rejects a changed remote version (beta)
From a project folder to cited answers in four steps
- Create
Create a space
Make a Finder folder a project space and drop in files or whole folders. Geist indexes each file for full-text search, page by page.
- Connect
Connect a SharePoint folder (beta)
An admin approves the Microsoft connection and selected sites. Each person connects their own Microsoft account for interactive access. Choose the folder to sync into the space.
- Members
Add the project team
Project and folder grants control access in Geist. For connected SharePoint files, each person also needs permission in SharePoint.
- Ask
Ask in a chat bound to the space
Open a chat on the space and ask. Wisp lists, searches, outlines and reads the files, then answers with citations that open the document at the cited page.
Questions about knowledge spaces
What can an agent see in a knowledge space?
What the person asking is authorized to see. Every file access checks that person's Geist grants. Connected SharePoint files also require their own Microsoft connection and current permission to the source. Project membership alone is not enough.
Do my existing SharePoint permissions still apply?
Yes. For connected SharePoint files, an interactive agent needs both your current SharePoint permission and the relevant Geist permission. Geist checks the source using your own Microsoft connection. It does not copy SharePoint's permission lists into Geist or borrow the setup administrator's access to answer you.
What does connecting SharePoint require?
A Microsoft 365 administrator approves the connection and selected sites; each interactive user connects their own Microsoft account with access to the source. SharePoint is in beta. Live access, revocation and writeback checks in the target tenant are required before customer deployment.
What happens when SharePoint access is removed?
Cached content and source-based summaries must pass current permission checks before reuse. If access cannot be verified, Geist withholds the protected content. Information already delivered while access was valid cannot be recalled.
Can agents access SharePoint in the background?
Background access uses a separately approved, read-only service identity for selected sites and a bounded job scope. Permission to process a file does not give everyone permission to see the result; recipients need their own access. Background rollout requires separate live validation after per-user access is qualified.
How do citations work?
Each statement Wisp takes from a file carries a chip with the file name and page. Clicking the chip opens the document viewer at that page, so you check the passage yourself.
How does Wisp find the right passage?
The way a person with a search box would. It lists the files, reads their outlines, runs full-text searches and opens the matching pages. For many files at once it runs a batch extract. Semantic retrieval is planned.
What happens to scanned PDFs?
The index reads the text in a file. A scanned PDF without a text layer has nothing to search yet, so Wisp cannot cite it. OCR for scanned files is planned.

Pick a running project, load its documents into a space and ask the questions your team asks every week.
